There’s an art to holiday decorating.
In no way have I mastered it, but those that have know that the trick lies in being both current and classic. It needs to have a freshness to it, but still look timeless.
Two elements that I think can be used in a new way, but still carry a sense of history, are tartan and pheasant feathers.

I’m currently on the hunt for an Oriental or Persian rug for our kitchen. I LOVE the warmth they bring to kitchens.
Kitchens, with their chrome appliances, shiny tiles, and slick countertops can sometimes seem too cold to me and so unlike the other parts of the home. With fall approaching, I find myself being drawn more and more to elements of warmth and the addition of an antique or Persian rug to the kitchen seems like the perfect touch. It creates contrast, and contrasts are what create interest.
