Jackie O’s interior designer, Richard Keith Langham, is coming to Jacksonville. What an opportunity we have to hear from the man that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis chose to be her designer.

“I hope life gives you back all the nice things that you put into it for other people,” Mrs. Onassis wrote to Langham on the back of a postcard of the Louvre in Paris.

Kicking Off the Month of May

Kicking Off May

May is a busy month: from the Kentucky Derby to Jacksonville’s THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, there is something to every weekend.

May is getting off to a busy start, especially here in the South.

Between the NFL Draft Thursday night, Tee-ing Off Downtown to kick off the week of The Players Championship golf tournament on Friday, and the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, there’s hardly a moment to spare.

It’s important to take a moment, relax, and enjoy this fabulous weather we are having.  You wouldn’t want to get sick and have to miss work next Friday. But, then again I hear, the best medicine is served cold along the greens of TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra.

If you aren’t going down to your local NFL stadium for the DRAFT PARTY, this is a great night to make a “Beer Cocktail.”  Grab your partner’s favorite local brew, for Matt it is Jacksonville’s Intuition’s People’s Pale Ale, your favorite Gin, ginger ale, and a lemon or two. It’s quick, festive, and a fun way to celebrate the Draft… even if you don’t like football.

GINgerale Shandy

Combine…
2/3 C – Chilled Local Brew
1/3 C – Ginger Ale
Top it off with a touch of Gin and the squeeze of a lemon.

If beer isn’t your thing… there is always champagne!

Now, sit back and enjoy the evening.

Mina and I met in middle school.  I knew we’d be best friends when, in 8th grade,  we both agreed that the best way to present our archeology assignment to the class was to rap it.

Not that I hear the term “Carbon-14 Dating” often, but when I do… I smile.   Continue reading

Friday Favorite: Nordstrom

Simple and beautiful. You can't go wrong with white flowers.

“There hasn’t been more gracious of a host than Nordstrom was at their Opening Gala.” Those were the first words out of my mother’s mouth when asked about her experience at Wednesday night’s gala in Jacksonville, FL.

Hall of Mirrors

Using four large, gold mirrors, we opened up the room and created something interesting on an otherwise large blank wall.

Using four large, gold mirrors, we opened up the room and created something interesting on an otherwise large blank wall.

In the 1600’s mirrors were very expensive, one of the most expensive things to own. That made Louis XVI’s Hall of Mirrors in Versailles even MORE of an impressive statement. It is 239.5 feet long and boasts over 357 mirrors. Using mirrors in decorating, in my opinion, is an absolute MUST. They reflect light, open up the space, and can add an elegant touch to every room.  Continue reading
