Friday Favorite: 2014 Art & Antiques Show

December 5th through the 7th in Jacksonville, Florida

Late last November I got an email from a friend that said she had extra tickets to the  Art & Antiques Show lectures. “Would you want to go? Miles Redd will be there on Friday, and Bunny Williams, James Farmer, and Danielle Rollins will be speaking on Saturday.”

What? YES!  Bunny Williams is going to be in Jacksonville? Miles Redd is coming? What is this wonderful event and why hadn’t I heard about it?

I was so excited and responded with a big “YES AND THANK YOU” before I even looked at the dates and times of the event. In that moment, nothing else mattered because I was going to hear Bunny Williams discuss her life and decorating style, and give advice.

[cocktail] The French 75

The French 75s
Two facts about the French 75: the “origin story” of the cocktail has gotten a bit muddled over time, and its namesake is an artillery  gun from WWI. I can’t think of two BETTER facts to endorse a cocktail; it’s so great that no one can really remember where it came from, and it’s so powerful that the French 75mm Field Gun moniker withstands the test of time.

It sounded like a great drink to serve this past weekend when my in-laws came to visit! 🙂  Continue reading

let’s plan a party

I continued using bales of hay throughout; here I draped it with an IKEA plaid throw to make a sitting area near a drink station.

Create areas for your guests to gather, complete with food and drinks. 

Tomorrow is not only Monday,  but my first day back to work after 17 glorious days of Christmas vacation. Thinking about Mondays, much less preparing for them, can be depressing. So, instead, let’s think about planning a party! Continue reading
